Kids’ Test Kitchen is on a mission to inspire healthy eaters, and ultimately redefine kid food, by providing young students the opportunity to cook, taste, and then teach their families about nutrient-dense foods.
Aspiring chefs meet for a series of classes and work as a team to prepare fun snacks, entrées, and side items whose key ingredients are known to be really healthy for us! Some of the ingredients we highlight include Swiss chard, avocado, bananas, artichokes, spaghetti squash, watermelon, and more. Give us a room full of hungry students and you’ll be amazed by their enthusiasm!
At the end of each class, participants receive the main ingredient so that they can cook for family and show off what they learned!
Kids’ Test Kitchen was created by dietitian and mom, Emily Seward, who brings her passion for connecting with children and food to empower and inspire the healthy eaters in all of us.

Class information
Cooking is a life skill, and so is eating!
On a mission to redefine kid food; Kids’ Test Kitchen’s enthusiastic Facilitators get eaters of all ages and abilities, cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients!
Students engage with food in a way that is both educational and fun. Through hands-on experience, kids are taught the value of fresh, healthy ingredients and gain appreciation for the process of transforming those ingredients into a finished product.
Each class closes with an opportunity to taste the result of their hard work.
Even the most reluctant eaters enjoy Kids’ Test Kitchen, where participation is encouraged, and the choice to taste is always one’s own.
Students receive a printed recipe card and the focal ingredient - or a sample of the finished dish - so they can show off what they learned at home!
Parents report their kids come home from Kids’ Test Kitchen EXCITED about fresh ingredients and new flavors! Reluctant eaters learn that food is safe and fun! And everyone practices essential life skills like teamwork, time management, and patience, along with the obvious skills like slicing, measuring, and cooking!
